Sabers Stun Saints in Five-Game Brawl

In the battle between first-year head coaches, Twin Cedars prevailed over Melcher-Dallas last night in Bluegrass Conference volleyball action. The Sabers won game one 25 – 21, the Saints took sets two and three 25 – 14 and 25 – 18, with Twin Cedars prevailing in games four and five by finals of 25 – 18 and 15 – 3. Saints’ coach, Tatum Starcevich tells KNIA/KRLS Sports that game five was a perfect storm of serving and serve-receiving gone awry. Sam Hammann had ten kills and Brittney Roby had eight aces to lead the Sabers, who improve to 4 – 4 on the year and are now 2 – 1 in the conference. The Saints drop to 5 – 3 and are 3 – 2 in league play. Twin Cedars is home against Chariton on Monday and Melcher-Dallas goes to Wayne on Saturday for tournament action.
