Daylight Savings Time ends Sunday, which means it’s time to “fall back” and gain an hour Saturday night/Sunday morning. David Prerau, author of Seize the Daylight: The Curious and Contentious Story of Daylight Saving Time, tells KNIA and KRLS News that the event dates back to 1784 when Benjamin Franklin was living in Paris as Ambassador of France. Franklin reportedly realized that shifting the clocks, would allow for the conservation of expensive lamp oil. Officially clocks should be rolled back an hour at 2am, however most people find it more convenient to do this before heading to bed for the evening.
