Central and Dubuque alternated set wins on the volleyball courts last night, but ultimately it was the Spartans who came out on top, winning the Iowa Conference bout in five games. The three games Dubuque won were each close; the Spartans prevailed in game one, 25 – 22 before letting the Dutch breeze by them in set two, 25 – 12. Dubuque won game three 25 – 23, Central took the fourth set 27 – 25, before the Spartans closed the door in a 15 – 12 game number five. Jessica Laflin had 15 kills to lead the team, while Sara Snead and Hannah Welter each registered double-digit kills for the contest. Central falls to 6 – 12 overall and are winless in three league matches. The Dutch will head up to Minnesota this Friday and Saturday for the SMU Cardinal Invitational in Winona.
