For the second straight year, Pella Christian heads out west to face St. Albert – Council Bluffs in the first round of the Class 1A football district playoffs. Last year, the Falcons took it to the Eagles in the first half and won handily 42 – 7 on their way to the Class 1A finals where they lost to Iowa City – Regina. The Falcons were able to stifle Mason Howerzyl in that game, holding him to just 40 yards on 22 carries, while racking up 400 rushing yards of their own. Coach Rich Kacmarynski says that he feels his team is better positioned to face the Falcons than they were a year ago. Last year’s starting quarterback for the Falcons, Tucker Culjat, has not played for a majority of the season and is expected to be out again this week. Without him, St. Albert still features several talented running backs that make up a majority of their offense. You can hear tonight’s playoff game live on 92.1 KRLS and streamed live at KNIAKRLS.com with Cory Houser providing the play-by-play. Pregame starts after the KNIA/KRLS Football Friday Night Radio Preview Show at 6:30 p.m.
