After making a statement in their opening district game against Central Decatur, Pella Christian’s football team finds themselves in a bit of a funk coming into today’s game against Ogden. Despite their losses to Des Moines Christian and Sigourney-Keota, one bright spot for the Eagles has been Mason Howerzyl, who has rushed for 257 yards in those two games. Coach Rich Kacmarynski says he’d like to see Howerzyl run with more “greener pastures” in front of him this evening. The Bulldogs’ have used a stiff defense and an effective offense to propel them to a 4 – 1 record, with the one loss coming at the hands of Van Meter. Caleb Fry and Austin Lentz have been the playmakers for the Bulldogs; Fry has completed 70% of his passes for nine touchdowns while only throwing one pick, and Lentz has ran for 569 yards and six scores. Jamie Brockman and Larry Hessing will control the play-by-play inside of Pella Christian’s press box on KNIAKRLS.com with the pregame starting at 6:30 p.m. and kickoff at seven. We’ll have a delayed broadcast of the contest on 92.1 KRLS immediately following the KNIA/KRLS Football Friday Night Radio Scoreboard Show.
