Brad Fillback, from the National Weather Service says the average first frost in Marion County is between October 6th and 9th. Sherryl Nunnikhoven at Dutch Meadows says the first thing you need to do is decide what plants you want to keep, and what you want to let go. Plants you want to keep will need to be covered if you know it’s going to freeze overnight. Nunnikhoven adds that fabric needs to be used to cover plants, since plastic does not work. Also if you are finished with your peppers and tomatoes plants, wrap those with fabric as well.
