The Pella High volleyball team accomplished several regular season goals over the past couple of months. One of them that the seniors set for the team was to win a Little Hawkeye Conference championship. It would be no small task; the mystery of adding Dallas Center-Grimes coupled with strong teams from Knoxville, Newton and Pella Christian made the conference up for grabs for anyone that looked to take it. Up until the Newton contest this past Tuesday, the Lady Dutch lost only two sets through six matches. Coach Catie Brand said that her girls had made it a point to be determined and concentrated in each conference game they went into. Unfortunately, the Cardinals swept Pella in three straight sets to overtake them as the Little Hawkeye Conference champions with a 6 – 1 record. Pella will wait to see who wins between Knoxville and Carlisle on Monday in the first round of the Class 4A regional tournament; The Lady Dutch will host that winner on Thursday in the semifinals.
