Having just faced them a few days ago at the Newton tournament, the Pella High volleyball team swept Knoxville in straight sets in a Little Hawkeye Conference bout last night. Pella won 25 – 20, 25 – 18 and 25 – 17. Each team looked a little shaky at first; points went back-and-forth and each team traded service errors, though the majority of them were committed by the Lady Dutch. Pella coach, Catie Brand says that her girls did a great job of putting the emotion of the Pella-Knoxville rivalry aside and focused on winning the match. Knoxville’s head coach, Liz Sanders said that her team lost momentum halfway through each game and could never recover. Meredith Cunningham had 12 digs, Erica Fee had four service aces, five kills and ten digs to lead Knoxville. Taelor Rempe recorded 19 digs, Jessica Holterhaus had nine kills, and Makenna Bogaard added three blocks to lead the Lady Dutch. Pella is now 16 – 12 overall and they are 5 – 0 in the Little Hawkeye Conference. Knoxville falls to 13 – 13 and 3 – 2 in the league. The Panthers play Winterset on Thursday and the Lady Dutch will host a tournament next on Saturday.
