Pella and PCM competed at the Norwalk cross country invitational last night. The Little and Lady Dutch each finished second to Dowling Catholic; the Pella girls’ top five runners were all in the top 20, led by freshman Tess Roorda with a 15:21 time and good for fifth place, freshmen Kelcey Blommers and Payton Phelps were not too far behind in sixth and tenth. For PCM, their girls finished ninth and were led by Rachel Stafford with her time of 17:14 and 25th place. Her teammate, Rachel Peter, came in 26th at 17:20. Over on the boys’ side, it was another two horse race with Dowling Catholic and Pella, and all 14 of their varsity runners finished in the top 20. The Little Dutch were led by Ben Warner, who finished just six seconds out of first place with a time of 16:30. Jordan Pingel came in fifth for Pella’s second best time of 16:58. The Mustangs were tenth; Matt Chizek was the fastest for PCM at 18:49 and good for 27th place. Conference meets are next up for both PCM and Pella next Monday.
