The partial government shutdown is limiting the creativity of local beer, wine, and spirits makers. While previously approved wines are ok to produce labels for, new formulas and blends are no longer being reviewed for approval. Sharman Wersen, co-owner of Tassel Ridge, says that approval time averages about 60 days, although she says it was at about 30 days just before the shutdown. She continues to say that luckily they planned ahead, and a new red wine called “Sweet & Snazzy!” was approved before the stoppage and should be available by the end of the year.
