The Central men’s and women’s soccer teams did not end the season as they would have hoped, losing to Loras in Pella yesterday afternoon. The women fell 4 – 1, only getting three shots on goal to the DuHawks’ 13. Central scored their only goal off the foot of Julie Wunder on a nice cross from Alayna Bailey to make it 3 – 1 in favor of Loras. The DuHawks’ men edged the Dutch 2 – 1 in their contest. Loras led 1 – 0 early in the first half, until Mark Hentschel scored with an assist from Aleksandar Glavas to tie it up at the half. Loras would score a goal about 15 minutes into the second half to hang onto win. The Dutch women fall to 12 – 5 – 2 overall and finish 3 – 3 – 1 in Iowa Conference play, and the men end their regular season 9 – 8 – 1 and 2 – 5 in the league. Each squad will wait to see who they play during the Iowa Conference tournament which starts this Friday.
