Offense Goes Stale in Central Football Loss

A defensive battle went the way of Simpson on Saturday afternoon, as the Storm beat Central 14 – 10. The Storm scored first on their first drive of the game, going 66 yards on nine plays, punctuated by a 15 yard pass from the talented Taylor Nelson to Mike Kuhn. The score would hold that way until the closing moments of the first half, when Aaron Eiseler would finally warm up the “guest” side of the scoreboard with a four yard pass to Brendon Boerm to tie it up at seven per side. The Dutch capitalized on a muffed punt inside the red zone, but could only come away with a field goal, and with their offense stagnant for practically the rest of the game, Simpson scored the final points of the game with a Jake McCulley touchdown reception early in the fourth. Eiseler was sacked five times, four coming in the second half at some inopportune times. He did end the game 16-of-32 passing for 145 yards, and Josh Osborn ran for 88 yards on 19 carries. Central falls to 2 – 3 on the season and are 0 – 2 in the Iowa Conference. The Dutch will host Buena Vista this Saturday afternoon for their next league game.
