They fought to the end, but Pella Christian’s volleyball team came up just short in three straight games to Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont, losing in straight sets in the second round of the Class 2A regional tournament. The Eagles lost 25 – 18, 25 – 19 and 25 – 19. Coach Cindy Nikkel said after the match that her girls came ready, but just got outplayed towards the end of each set. Nikkel added that their serving wasn’t as sharp as it had been in previous matches. Logan De Graaf had six kills and 15 digs, Hannah Beltman also had six kills and four blocks, and Lauren Jungling came up with five kills herself. The Eagles end their season with a record of 19 – 16.
