The KNIA/KRLS Severe Weather Action Team went into action at approximately 7:50 AM on Friday when a severe thunderstorm warning was issued for the northwestern portion of Marion County. Wind gusts in excess of 40 MPH were recorded and driving northwest on Highway 5 towards Des Moines was nearly impossible with sheets of rain coming down at times. As of Friday afternoon, Knoxville received .94 of an inch of precipitation, and Pella received over half an inch. Forecasters are predicting drier conditions over the next week, and cooler temperatures.
