ISU Extension Office Program Director Dale Miller tells KNIA KRLS News that it’s time to get the leaves raked off the grass. Leaf debris prevents the turf grass plants from manufacturing and storing food prior to winter. Miller says the grass in our area is made up of cool-weather plants, and will continue to grow until we get a hard freeze. He adds that now is the time to treat your lawn for weeds, because the plants will draw any treatment down into their roots. Miller said many people wait and treat in the spring, which is actually not ideal.
