There were plenty of positives to take away from the Central men’s 90 – 70 loss in their exhibition basketball game with Drake on Sunday. The Dutch found themselves up at one point, 30 – 29 in the first half, but Drake rattled off a 24 – 1 run that carried over into the second half. Central also out-blocked the Bulldogs 6 – 0 despite suffering a disadvantage size-wise. Also, Nile Eckermann, who mainly played JV games for the Dutch last year, was the leading scorer, with 20 points, including six shots made from beyond the arc. Central did commit 22 turnovers thanks to constant pressure the Bulldogs put on. The Dutch will open up the 2013-14 season officially in a little over a week at Monmouth College in Illinois on November 15.
