Five Dutch players found double digits last night as Central took it to Eureka, 108 – 68. The Dutch put on a show for their fans in their 2013-14 home court debut, and were practically everywhere on the court, able to find wide open looks from the opening tip to the final buzzer. Central out-rebounded the Red Devils 54 – 34 for the game, led by Matt Greenfield who had 14 to compliment his 15 points for a double-double effort. Kevin Kaerwer led all scorers with 22 points, thanks to 5-for-6 shooting from beyond the arc, including a stretch of three straight possessions where he drained out from outside. The Dutch defense limited the Lobdell brothers, who combined for 50 points against Monmouth, to 21 points, and Coach Craig Douma says that was a big key to their win. Central’s men improve to 2 – 0 on the season, and they will join the women this Tuesday for a men’s/women’s doubleheader; Chelsea Petersen’s gang will host Nebraska Wesleyan while the men play Cornell.
