In the head-scratcher of the week, the Central men’s cross country team won their second straight Iowa Conference title thanks to their 1-2-3 finish, but somehow dropped in the most recent U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division III poll. The men were ranked ninth but fell one spot to tenth. Johns Hopkins and Wisconsin – Eau Claire each jumped the Dutch in the polls; the Blue Jays had an incredible 24-spot improvement to eighth, while Eau Claire was ninth. Other Iowa Conference schools were mixed; Loras raised six rungs to 22nd and Luther fell four to 28th. Central will compete at the NCAA Division III Central Region championships a week from Saturday at Northfield, Minnesota.
