Both the Central men’s and women’s soccer programs had some smart cookies on their squads this year. Each team earned the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Team Academic Award for the 2012-13 academic year. To receive the award, a team must have a GPA of at least 3.0. Mike Kobylinski’s Lady Dutch accumulated a 3.54 GPA, which was actually ninth overall for all Division III schools across the country. The award marks the second straight time the Dutch women have received the honor. Over on the men’s side, their 3.01 cumulative GPA allowed them to receive the award for the first time in program history. Wartburg, Luther, Dubuque and Coe also received the award in the Iowa Conference.
