Not unaccustomed to playing bigger schools with their size, the Pella Christian boys’ basketball team will scrimmage with some Class 4A teams today. In addition to today being a good measuring stick for where their team is this early in the season, Coach Larry Hessing and the rest of the staff will be looking to see his team play well on defense.

“I think the focus today is going to be on whether we can stop some people or play some good defense,” Hessing said. “We’re playing some good 4A schools in the CIML; it’s a good challenge, we’re going to find out where we’re at, but can we play defense? We’d like to think we can put the ball in the hole a little bit but can we get any kind of stops? I think that’s really the main thing we’re looking for today.”

The Pella Christian boys’ officially tip their season off this Monday when they host West Marshall.
