Albia comes into Pella Christian’s gym tonight for an early-season girls’ basketball showdown. The Eagles are fresh off a 59 – 48 win over the Blue Devils of Martensdale – St. Mary’s this past Friday, while the Blue Demons played their first game of the season just last night. Three Eagles found double digits in their Friday night win, and Coach Kevin Van Maanen says that now that the girls have one game under their belt, he hopes to see improvement and his team a little more settled down in tonight’s game. Albia won just four games last year, but played the Eagles close in last year’s early-season contest; Pella Christian won 56 – 46. The JV teams play first at 6:00 p.m. with the varsity game scheduled for 7:30.
