Eagles Top-Loaded Schedule Had Several Benefits

Being the lone-2A school in the Little Hawkeye Conference, the Pella Christian volleyball team is not content with just playing the Class 4A schools the rest of the league is comprised of. In fact, the Eagles play in some pretty competitive tournaments and a tough non-conference schedule. They opened up the season with Marshalltown and beat the Bobcats but stumbled a bit out of the gate after that while dealing with injuries to several key players. Coach Cindy Nikkel says that in the past, they have had an easier non-conference and tournament schedule, but have since changed that to help the team be better prepared for conference and more difficult matches in the future. The Eagles finished the season 19 – 16.
