During the Pella City Council work session Tuesday, it was revealed that Missouri River Energy Services recently notified the City of Pella that they would be raising their rates on January 1st by 5.3%. That means the city of Pella will incur approximately $740,000 in additional electric costs. Missouri River says that the rise in pricing is to offset the costs of building the new Red Rock Hydroelectric Project. Mike Nardini, Pella City Administrator says that the project is going to take approximately three years and is projected to be complete by the spring of 2017.
