Fall sports were very successful for Pella High in 2013. The football team went 11 – 1 and was just one game away from the UNI-Dome and the Class 3A State Semifinals. The boys’ and girls’ cross country teams each made it to state and finished fourth overall. Little Dutch head boys’ basketball coach, Mark Core says he attends the football games not for the contest itself, but to see what players stand out in his eyes. Core adds that Jordan Pingel from the cross country season also fit the mold for leaders on the field, as did Noah and Nathan Clayberg, just to name a few others. Pella’s boys will scrimmage with some Class 4A schools on Friday, and will get down to business this Tuesday against Carlisle.
