The Pella Food Shelf has recently seen an increase in traffic since the SNAP program received governmental cuts. Approximately 80 to 90 families receive assistance from the shelf each Tuesday, feeding about 1,000 mouths monthly. The cuts in the SNAP program average $36 a month for a family of four. Melissa Zula, Food Shelf Administrator says that while that amount may not seem like much, for families on a tight budget, that shortage can create much concern.
