The Marion County Historical Society hosted the annual Festival of Trees last weekend. 36 trees were decorated, and were in the running for “Best Tree,” and the winners are as follows: 1st Place, VFW/Ladies Auxiliary Post 3519 with their POW/MIA tree, 2nd Place, Knoxville Iowa Lion’s Club, and 3rd Place, Henry Knox Chapter, NSDAR. Carla Huebler, with the Historical Society says that the proceeds from the public tree voting totalled $400.00, which will go to Red Rock Area Community Action Program to help brighten the holidays for families in need with Christmas food baskets. Various businesses also donated their decorated trees to the Red Rock Area Community Action Program to be given to families in need.
