Their season coming to an abrupt end exactly one week ago at the hands of Washington in the Class 3A state quarterfinals, the Pella High football team has nothing to hang their heads about. Until that loss last Friday, the team had, for the most part, stayed away from injuries, won some close games and held their own against some stout competition. Those close games included narrow wins in the non-district schedule early on against both Washington and Grinnell. Coach Jay McKinstrey says that he is happy with how the year went and his team’s hard work in the offseason really paid off when it was game time. McKinstrey added that it was disappointing to end the season with a loss against a team that he thought they could beat, but gives credit to the Demons for coming to play. Pella finished the season with an 11 – 1 record.
