Pella defeated Knoxville in a battle of conference and Marion County rivals three sets to none last night in the semi-finals of the Class four-A Volleyball Regional. The Lady Dutch won 25-16, 25-23, and 25-20 to advance to Tuesday night’s Regional championship. Knoxville had a chance to steal set two as the Panthers fought off six set points to get to within one at 24-23, however Pella would clinch on the next serve to take a commanding 2-0 lead in the match. Knoxville Coach Liz Sanders told KNIA/KRLS that the second set was a tough one. Knoxville was led by Erica Fee and Ashley Hawkshead with 11 kills while Fee added 15 digs. Meredith Cunningham led the team with 17 digs and 23 assists. Knoxville finishes with a 20-20 record and returns nearly the entire team with the exception of seniors Erica Fee and Shelby Sanderson for 2014.
