They may have finished the season one game shy of a trip to Cedar Rapids and the Class 4A state volleyball tournament, but the Pella High girls did not hang their heads after it was all over. They won a share of the Little Hawkeye Conference championship by going 6 – 1 in league play to tie with Newton, and made it one step further in the regional tournament than they did a year ago when they fell to Solon in the semifinals. Head coach, Catie Brand says that her girls set and achieved most of their goals they talked about before the season began back in August. Brand adds that they looked back at not only their on-court successes but also at the fun experiences and the memories she and her team took away from the 2013 season. The Lady Dutch wound up with a 21 – 16 record.
