The Knoxville Police Department began issuing permits last week, for off road utility vehicles to operate on City Streets. The permits cost $25 and will be good through December 31, 2014. Dirt bikes, ATVs, and dune buggies are not included in the new ordinance and will not be issued permits. Applications are available at the Police Station during normal business hours. All vehicles must have a safety flag, slow moving vehicle triangle, and insurance. The vehicle also must be inspected prior to the permit being issued. It is suggested that you call 641-828-0541 before bringing your vehicle to the Knoxville Police Department to be certain someone is available to issue the permit.
