It is easy to overindulge during the holidays. Caitlyn Rondello, Coordinator for the Diabetes Center with Knoxville Hy-Vee and Knoxville Hospital and Clinics offers some tips to avoid overeating. She says to sample foods, or just take a bite or two of the rich, indulgent foods. You can get a taste without overdoing. Pick a small plate for snacks, and then leave the area where the food is. Socialize away from the food. She says people tend to “save” calories for the big holiday meal but this can leave you extra hungry when it comes time for the holiday meal. She suggests to have a snack beforehand, so you are not quite as hungry at dinnertime, so you don’t overdo it. She suggests take a little more turkey, which is lean, instead of more high-calorie items like green bean casserole or stuffing.
