Shortly before 2 Wednesday, Knoxville Police Department and Knoxville Fire and Rescue were called to an accident at the intersection of East Washington and South Third Street. Knoxville Fire Chief Jim Mitchell tells KNIA KRLS News that a late 90s Ford Taurus, headed south on S. Third and was struck by a west-bound older model Chevy Cavalier, causing the Cavalier’s passenger airbag to deploy. Knoxville Police cited the driver of the Taurus. Knoxville Police officers witnessed the accident – the intersection is between the police department building and the fire station. All the vehicle occupants refused ambulance service, appearing to suffer non serious injury. Mike’s Towing hauled the disabled Cavalier away, while Darnell’s took the Taurus.
