When you mention the 2013 Pella High football team around town, some people recall their 11 – 1 record or their perfect run through Class 3A District 8 in dominating fashion. However, what most people will tend to think about when recalling this past year of Little Dutch football is their big, last-second win over Grinnell in Week Three, 22 – 21. This win was preceded by Pella’s come-from-behind victory over Washington, 14 – 7, and Coach Jay McKinstrey says that his guys used the momentum from that win over the Demons to propel them into their confrontation with the Tigers. McKinstrey adds it was a tremendous tribute to his kids and the team the way they responded to their win over Washington.
