The most recent Drought Monitor was released Thursday and Marion, Mahaska and Jasper counties remain among the 33% of the state suffering from severe drought conditions. Another third of the state is suffering moderate conditions, 20% is abnormally dry, 2% is extreme, and 11% no longer has cause for drought concern. Marion County has seen some rain this week with .62 of an inch falling in Knoxville Wednesday/Thursday, and another .56 falling in Pella.
