Flying out to a 4 – 2 start, the Pella High girls’ basketball team looked like the sky was the limit. Their only two losses in that six-game stretch were to top ranked teams in Ballard and Dallas Center-Grimes. The Lady Dutch were helped by some hot shooting, scoring 65 points per game in that span. However, the final week of the 2013 part of the schedule brought lids over the baskets for Pella; they scored 39 and 33 against Bondurant-Farrar and Grinnell, respectively. Coach Jerod Garland said after their loss to the Tigers that starting with their game against Pella Christian next Tuesday, all of his team must find ways to score. Even with the two sub-40 point performances, the Lady Dutch still rank in the top 50 in the entire state in points per game. They’re currently practicing getting ready for the Eagles in seven days.
