One streak came to an end and another started for Central’s basketball teams on Saturday. The women came up just short against Martin Luther, 52 – 49. Despite the Dutch holding Martin Luther to 28 percent from the field, Central shot an even worse 27.5% and only scored 21 points in the first 20 minutes. In the men’s contest, they had their second straight blowout win, prevailing 95 – 67 over Martin Luther. Matt Greenfield led the team in scoring with 18, Nile Eckermann came up with 16 and Kevin Kaerwer scored 14. Spencer Bakerink also grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the Dutch men, who are now 5 – 3, the women are 6 – 1. Both teams are back in action this Wednesday; the women host William Penn, and the men head to Illinois to play Augustana.
