2013 is almost in the books, and there are just a few more days to make charitable contributions to get credit on your 2013 tax return. Dave Johnson, attorney with Johnson and Lane in Knoxville, says contributions can be made on December 31. Contributions can be postmarked and checks can be written on that date to count toward your 2013 taxes. He says any amount is deductible, from $1 to $10,000, but it doesn’t do any good unless you benefit from itemizing your deductions. That amount varies from person to person, and depends on filing status. Contact a tax professional if you have specific questions regarding deductions.
