Fans and coaches alike knew this would be an interesting season for Pella Christian boys’ basketball. The Eagles parted with several key players from last year’s run to the state tournament, but still brought back talented, experienced athletes, including Coltin Collins, Jared Van Wyk and Sebastian Baugh. After that, it was up to the younger players to step up and contribute. So far, those underclassmen have done just that; Nate Haveman, Josh Posthuma and Levi Jungling have scored a combined 22.9 points per game on average, which is just under half of the team’s 55 per game they’ve put up this season. Coach Larry Hessing says at about the halfway point of the campaign, his team is fairly balanced in scoring. Pella Christian makes the short drive to Pella High a week from tonight for their first game of 2014.
