One of the best showings in quite a while gave the Knoxville Boys Basketball Squad something they have not experienced in a long time, a win. Knoxville defeated Centerville last night 80-71 snapping a 38 game losing streak. The Panthers controlled the paint with their height advantage and key free throw shooting down the stretch. Knoxville was able to put the Big Reds away by going 13/14 at the free throw line in the fourth quarter. Coach Jeff Larson told KNIA/KRLS Sports once his team started making outside shots…Nathan Winters and Chase Higgenbotham controlled the inside game. Higgenbotham led Knoxville with 19 points while Winters scored 13, Nolan Wallace and Gerritt Davis contributed 12 points. On the girls side, Knoxville’s defense once again paved the way for the Panthers to beat Centerville 50-34. Meredith Cunningham led with 15 points. The Boys are now 1-2 on the season while the girls are 3-1, both will host Oskaloosa on Friday.
