PCM was able to come away with a doubleheader sweep Monday night on the hardwood over Pella Christian. The girls’ game was close throughout, but it was the Mustangs that edged the Eagles, 53 – 49. Pella Christian held a one point lead at the half, but PCM came out swinging in the second half, outscoring the Eagles 17 – 9 in the third to put them in a hole they couldn’t dig out of. Hannah Beltman led all scorers with 17 points while Courtney VanHouweling scored 15 to lead the Mustangs. Eagles’ coach, Kevin Van Maanen said that several things went wrong for his girls yesterday. In the boys’ game, PCM proved to be too quick up and down the court in their 61 – 51 win over Pella Christian. Dillon Bruxvoort was a menace in the post, scoring a game-high 20 points, and Coltin Collins had 19 of his own for the Eagles. The PCM girls improve to 3 – 2, Pella Christian is 2 – 2; the Mustangs’ boys are 3 – 0 while the Eagles are 2 – 2. Though PCM is undefeated in the young season, Head coach Fred Lorensen believes his team still has a ways to go to be playing at the level he wants them at. PCM plays South Hamilton at home tonight, and the Eagles play their fourth game in five days this evening in Oskaloosa.
