There were some questions marks about the Pella High boys’ basketball team heading into this 2013-14 season. One of them was the injuries to Austin Schulte, Noah and Nathan Clayberg. The latter was the Little Hawkeye Conference’s leading rebounder a year ago, averaging almost ten per game. With Clayberg out early this season due to a foot injury, the Little Dutch would have to step up and find a way to make up for the void he left. That’s where Isaac Naaktgeboren came in; through six games, Naaktgeboren is averaging a double-double with 20 points and 12 boards per game. Coach Mark Core says that Isaac works each day in practice like his spot on the team is on the line and his rebounding abilities have benefitted from his hard work. Pella plays one last game before the Christmas break this Friday in Grinnell against the Tigers.
