2013 is nearly over, and it’s almost time to start thinking about taxes. Dave Johnson, attorney with Johnson and Lane in Knoxville, recommends to not jump the gun to get your return prepared and filed. He says with the government shutdown, things may be a little slower this year. He says the problem arises when you have your appointment early and have your return filed and then a week or 10 days later get a new 1099, you have to file an amended return. Johnson said it’s best to wait until you have your information, then file a complete return.
