Pella High fought hard, but in the end, Dallas Center-Grimes came up with a sweep of the Dutch on Tuesday night on the hardwood. The Lady Dutch fell 66 – 54 in a game whose final score did not do it justice. Pella was within two in the fourth quarter but failed to take advantage of opportunities to tie. Jessica Holterhaus led all Lady Dutch scorers with 17 points, and Katie Vandermolen made three from beyond the arc to finish with 13. The Little Dutch led by as much as seven points in the final period, thanks to a four-point play from Bryce Bortscheller, but had some unlucky breaks go against them and fell to the Mustangs, 66 – 61. Jordan Pingel led all scorers on the night with 21. Pella’s girls fall to 10 – 6, the boys are now 12 – 3, and their weeks don’t get any easier with a visit from Grinnell up ahead this Friday.
