Pella begins a pair of back-to-back difficult contests tonight with a visit from Newton to the Pella High gym. The Cardinals fought fairly evenly with the Dutch last season, but have faltered a bit this year; the girls are 3 – 9 and the boys are 4 – 8. Turnovers have been a problem for the Cardinals’ girls; they are averaging over 20 per game. The Newton boys’ defense has been their Achilles heel, as they are giving up 68 points per game, while Pella has only given up 60 points in a game three times. Pella’s ability to handle the ball well is one of their strengths they bring to each and every game, says head coach, Mark Core. You can hear tonight’s game live on 92.1 KRLS and streamed live on KNIAKRLS.com with Cory Houser and Randy Sikkema on the call. Pregame starts at 6:00 p.m. with tip-off at 6:15.
