Despite getting out-rebounded 46 – 34, the Pella Christian girls’ basketball team prevailed over Knoxville, 55 – 43 on Tuesday. The Panthers had several second, third and even fourth chance opportunities on offense, grabbing 23 offensive boards, but could not convert. Tessa Howerzyl led the Eagles in scoring with 15 points while Ricki Hall led all scorers with 17. The Knoxville boys got off to a fast start and survived a furious fourth quarter rally by Sebastian Baugh and the Eagles to hold on and win 77 – 64. The two schools combined for 52 points in the fourth quarter alone. Knoxville freshman, Trent Davis had 21 points to lead the Panthers and Baugh finished with 23. Knoxville’s girls fall to 5 – 5, the boys improve to 3 – 6. For Pella Christian, their girls and boys are now 6 – 6 on the year. The Panthers host Dallas Center-Grimes and the Eagles welcome Grinnell to town on Friday.
