EDOUARD,PATRICK

Wednesday the Iowa Supreme Court agreed to further review the case of Patrick Edouard, a former Pella pastor. Edouard, who was found guilty of four counts of sexual exploitation by a counselor or therapist, and one count of pattern, practice, or scheme to engage in sexual exploitation, asserts in his appeal that among other issues, the district court erred in failing to include in the jury’s instructions the definition of “counseling,” as defined by the Iowa Supreme Court in State v. Gonzalez, resulting in prejudice against him. Edouard served as the pastor of the Covenant Reformed Church in Pella from 2003 to 2010, and in January of 2011, four female members of Edouard’s congregation alleged Edouard, while counseling them, repeatedly engaged in sex acts with them.
