On Thursday, Governor Terry Branstad and Lt. Governor Kim Reynolds accepted the resignation of Dr. Marianette Miller-Meeks, as director of the Iowa Department of Public Health. Marion County Public Health Director Kim Dorn commented, saying she enjoyed working with Dr. Miller-Meeks, and she is sure that Dr. Miller-Meeks does not want to be distracted from her position as Director, as she has been presented with other opportunities. Gerd Clabaugh has been named interim director, and Miller-Meeks’ resignation is effective January 17. Miller-Meeks has served as the agency’s director since Branstad and Reynolds took office.
