Norwalk broke a 20-all tie in the third quarter with a 14-3 run on Knoxville and coasted to a 55-41 girls basketball victory last night. The Warriors hit on 7/10 from the field in the third quarter to pull away. Knoxville Coach Jim Utiermarkt said too many defensive break downs in that decisive third quarter was what lost the game for his team. Meredith Cunningham led the Panthers with 14 points and Ricki Hall had 12 including ten from the free throw line. Knoxville is 5-3 on the season and 2-2 in the Little Hawkeye Conference. The boys were ambushed by Norwalk with a 12-2 run in the second quarter and then a 14-0 run in the third quarter as Norwalk ran away from Knoxville 84-52. The Panthers were led by Chase Higgenbotham with 17 points. Knoxville is now 2-5 on the season and 1-3 in the conference. Knoxville will host Pella on Friday.
