The first of our area teams to play in 2014, the PCM basketball squads will tip-off the second “half” of their schedule against a formidable foe in North Polk this evening. The Comets’ girls were one of the preseason favorites to win the Heart of Iowa Conference this season, and are 6 – 2 entering play. Mustangs’ girls’ coach, Bret Grier says that his team will need to try and limit the production from the Murphy sisters. Miranda and Megan Murphy have combined for an average of 37 points per game thus far. North Polk’s boys were also one of the top guns expected to take a run at a conference title, but are sitting with a 2 – 5 mark, while the Mustangs’ boys enter with a perfect 6 – 0 record. You can hear tonight’s game streamed live at kniakrls.com with Kris Krug and Brian Hazelton on the call. Pregame starts at 5:45 p.m. with tip-off at six.
