Pleasantville Girls Fall to Martensdale – St. Mary’s, Boys Win Thriller

The Pleasantville girls’ basketball team fell to Martensdale – St. Mary’s on Tuesday night, 52-29. The Trojans headed to the locker room down 23-11 and were never able to keep up with the quick pace of the Blue Devils. Junior Kennedy Core finished with 18 points to lead all Trojans on the night. After the loss, head coach Aaron Fichter talked about what he expects to see in his team for the rest of the season. Pleasantville falls to 3-12 on the season. The Pleasantville boys survived a relentless Martensdale – St. Mary’s team in overtime later in the night, 71-70. The Blue Devils were sent to the free throw line with under four seconds to play in overtime but the first shot was missed and Jesse Nichols was able to get the loose ball for the Trojans and preserve the victory. Junior Trevor Zoss led all scorers with 23 points on the night while Dylan Lauer finished with 20. Pleasantville improves to 11-3 on the season. Both the girls and boys will host Albia tomorrow night.
